Making a name for themselves with impassioned live performances, and the raw uncompromising lyrics of frontman Joel Quartuccio, Being as an Ocean were mainstays in the underground melodic hardcore scene in the 2010s. The album’s title is a play on the traditional Judaic method for writing down the name of God, without risk of defacing it.
Being as an Ocean is an American post-hardcore band from Alpine, California, formed in 2011. The band originally formed in 2005 as Vanguard, How We Both Wondrously Perish, a self-titled album and their latest album, Waiting for Morning to Come, released on 8 September 2017.
