Orange is the fourth studio album by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. It was released through Matador Records on October 12, 1994. The Village Voice ranked the album of the top albums of 1994. NME named it the 16th best album of 1994. In 2018, Paste named it the 48th best garage rock album of all time. The single "Bellbottoms" was included in The Pitchfork 500.

In the aftermath of Extra Width's success, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion were drawing large crowds virtually everywhere they played. It both gratified them and made them suspicious. The track "Afro" on the previous album provided a clue as to the forthcoming no man's land JBSE would raucously explore. Orange is almost entirely new sonic terrain - but it keeps the trio's trademark sweaty, musical terrorism and hedonistic rage up front. Bellbottoms" kicks it off with a distorted two-chord guitar vamp, juxtaposed against strings worthy of the Love Unlimited.

Singer Jon Spencer was previously the leader of the noise punk band Pussy Galore before hooking up with Judah Bauer (guitar) and Russell Simins (drums) to form the Blues Explosion, a band that was part of the 1990s alternative rock boom. This bass-less combo had their breakthrough in 1993 with the album "Extra Width" on Crypt Records.

1994's Orange finds the Blues Explosion at the exact moment they left behind the rns Crypt Records trash-can garage-rock universe and sidled their way into the Beastie Boys/Beck/Cibo Matto downtown genre-fucking cosmpolitan party. Beck actually shows up on Orange, literally phoning in a guest verse on "Flavor", and they toured with the Beasties soon after. It's easy to hear what those guys liked in the band's assault.
