Christmas Eve Carol Service. Carols sung by the Cathedral Choir. There's no need to book but visitors are advised to arrive early. Posted: Wednesday September 21 2011.

I went to the Christmas Eve Carol Service and it was amazing! I have been to St. Paul's before to tour the cathedral when there was not a service occurring but to be in the cathedral, during a special service, was incredible. No matter when you go to London, I would make a stop to walk in and see the cathedral. Tip: If you are planning on going to the Carol Service, I highly recommend getting there at least an hour before, if not earlier, to get a good seat. My family and I arrived an hour before and the line was long and we were sitting in the back.

How Christmas Carols started and what they mean and represent in the customs of Christmas. The word Carol actually means dance or a song of praise and joy! Carols used to be written and sung during all four seasons, but only the tradition of singing them at Christmas has really survived. Early Christians took over the pagan solstice celebrations for Christmas and gave people Christian songs to sing instead of pagan ones. In 129, a Roman Bishop said that a song called "Angel's Hymn" should be sung at a Christmas service in Rome. Another famous early Christmas Hymn was written in 760, by Comas of Jerusalem, for the Greek Orthodox Church

These songs have roots in the Scriptures (all of these songs are inspired by the Book of Luke) and seek, above all else, to glorify God and serve his people. Churches welcome many visitors on Christmas Eve. Here are seven ways to promote your services, and make visitors feel welcome at your church. For most of our churches Christmas Eve services are among the best attended and the most important of the year. And when something is important it takes time to get ready. An analogy is a Christmas party or dinner in your home. You spend a lot of time preparing, right? And I’m sure that one area of preparation for you is hospitality.
