Bruno Pronsato - Lovers Do Even as techno moves in and out of fashion, I don't think Bruno Pronsato has anything to worry about. It was a formula that he perfected with his single-track EP The Make Up The Break Up, a stunning lesson in subtle buildup and release, forty minutes of gentle lapping and ebbing that nevertheless worked up enough energy to break out into occasional streaks of blinding sunlight. This practiced and confident manner extends itself to Pronsato's third album, sounding assured where his darker previous album Why Can't We Be Like Us often sounded like it was mired in its own emotional frustration.

I do know that there was a moment when I realised that what I was working on was straying from the typical Bruno path. I was becoming incredibly nostalgic in the studio, revisiting a lot of the stuff I listened to when I was younger. I recall a moment where I felt that what I was working on reminded me of some of the tracks from Brian Eno’s No New York (this is probably very abstract and not at all the case).

The last couple of years have seen Ford start up his thesongsays record label, which debuted with his deftly executed 39-minute Nico-sampling composition, "The Make Up The Break U.
