A Love Trilogy is the third studio album by American singer and songwriter Donna Summer. It was released on March 5, 1976, just eight months after her international breakthrough with the single and album of the same name – "Love to Love You Baby". The bold, sexual nature of that particular song had earned Summer the title 'the first lady of love'. By now Summer's work was being distributed in the . by Casablanca Records, and the label encouraged Summer, Moroder and team to continue in this vein.
A Love Trilogy (LP, Album, P/Mixed). Casablanca " is a very overlooked, 16 min + suite which is absolutely brilliant in how it takes minimal lyrics, and gives them multiple permutations, each better than the last. Could it be Magic" is fantastic, and perhaps the only "hit" from this LP. "Wasted" & "Come with Me" are two fantastic album cuts that should have been singles in their own right. The Munich Machine is at the top of their game once again here, with Keyboardist THOR BALDURSSON stealing the show.
Donna Summer's quizzical "Try Me, I Know We Can Make It" wings her nervous little falsetto from risk to dare and from dare to mad hope, and her rhythm section gropes from testy touch-beats to tightrope walkers' guitar figures and safety-net harmonies. The remaining four tracks substitute dances with imaginary lovers for her debut album's love starvation blues. Don't dismiss these subtle mood poems the way fans of "Love to Love You" sped right past the B-side of Summer's debut; the flightier Summer plays a rhythm, the dicier her resolution
