The debut album by Alison Statton (Young Marble Giants, Weekend) and Spike Williams (Weekend), first released by Vinyl Japan in 1994. Now remastered with five bonus tracks from the EP Weekend In Wales (1993). Tracks 1 to 11 originally released as the CD album Tidal Blues on Vinyl Japan (ASKCD 37) in January 1994. Tracks 12 to 16 originally released as the CD EP Weekend In Wales on Vinyl Japan (TASKCD 19) in 1993.

On Tidal Blues, Alison Statton, Andrew Moxham, and a cast of other musicians lay out a selection of great traditional tunes that move from Latin-influenced feels to lounge touches to rustic country tinges. The result is a great listen, laying out all of these sounds in an unassuming, realistically produced, and largely simplistic style that's rather appealing. More importantly, the project's members never take the adopted styles as restrictions.

The re-release of Tidal Blues by LTM in early 2006, besides including the original album plus extensive liner notes, included as its bonus tracks the duo's first release, the Weekend in Wales EP. The story behind the five-song effort was a complicated one, but as the notes explain - after the collapse of Weekend, Alison Statton and Spike Williams created a demo sent to Rough Trade which was rejected. The two musicians worked on other projects throughout the '80s, with Statton gaining some attention toward the end of the decade via her partnership with Ian Devine on two albums.
