Kiko is the ninth album by the Mexican American rock group Los Lobos. A year later, Los Lobos performed a spoof of their song "Kiko and the Lavender Moon" known as "Elmo and the Lavender Moon" on the PBS series Sesame Street. All songs written by David Hidalgo and Louie Pérez except where noted. Dream In Blue" – 3:34. Wake Up Dolores" – 2:55. Angels with Dirty Faces" – 4:02. That Train Don't Stop Here" (Cesar Rosas, Leroy Preston) – 3:52. Kiko and the Lavender Moon" – 3:35.
Arguably their greatest album, Kiko successfully brings together Los Lobos’ sophisticated songwriting and unique take on Mexican and American roots music with an arty, adventurous production to create a rich and rewarding work. There are straight-ahead rockers ( That Train Don’t Stop Here, Whiskey Trail ), tender ballads ( When the Circus Comes, Two Janes, Just a Man ), and Latin-soaked stunners ( Saint Behind the Glass ).
Kiko saw Los Lobos adopt a more experimental sound, that mixed blues, rock, folk and psychedelic influences. all of us were on this crazy trip. It was like a canoe into the fog, all of us were right there paddling away, and knowing we just have to paddle. We don't know where we're going, but we just trusted it. And it was amazing
Los Lobos' 1992 album Kiko was a remarkable step forward for a band that was already considered one of the best roots rock acts in America; while Kiko was an outstanding set of songs from a group of gifted and perceptive musicians, it also found Los Lobos working with a producer who encouraged them to explore the possibilities of the recording process in. a fresh new way, and the album's sonics were a very large part of what made it so striking
Exclusively for Prime members. Sample this album Artist (Sample). This was a break out album for Los Lobos. They threw out all the rules, and came up with a new sound that gave them permission to go past Rock n Roll limitations. Funny, Religious, Spiritual, and In the Groove Rockers.
If Los Lobos has learned one thing in nearly four decades together, it’s that playing by the rules is not for them. They tried it for a while, said no thanks, and they’ve been better for it ever since.
