Commercial Album is an album released by the Residents in 1980. It is commonly considered a follow-up of Duck Stab/Buster & Glen. The album pares down the concept and structure of the average commercial pop song and reduces it to a one-minute redux. It contains a compilation of 40 such sixty-second vignettes.
An album is a collection of audio recordings issued as a collection on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium. Albums of recorded music were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78-rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl LP records played at 33 1⁄3 rpm. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though album sales in the 21st-century have mostly focused on CD and MP3 formats.

This album was limited to 16, so great versions by Stevie Wonder, the Four Tops, Sinatra, Fitzgerald, Frankie Valli, and others considered are not here, but the ones that made the cut are a lot of fun. Whether its Dusty Springfield's immaculate -five-second version, or Stanley Turrentine's nty-two-second reading, hearing this marvelous melody over and over is a delight.
