Outside (subtitled The Nathan Adler Diaries: A Hyper-cycle) is the nineteenth studio album by English recording artist David Bowie, released on 25 September 1995 by Arista Records. It marked Bowie's reunion with Brian Eno, whom he had worked with among others on his Berlin Trilogy in the 1970s. Outside centres on the characters of a dystopian world on the eve of the 21st century.
The Outside Tour was a tour by English rock musician David Bowie, opening on 14 September 1995 at Meadows Music Theatre – Hartford, Connecticut. Support during the US leg of the tour was provided by Nine Inch Nails, who segued their set with Bowie's to form a continuous show. Prick opened the first date of the tour. In 1995, Morrissey was asked to open for David Bowie’s The Outside Tour. Their time together lasted only a few dates, however, as - wait for it - Morrissey had to pull out of the tour due to an illness. Given that Morrissey returned to the stage just a few days later for his own headlining gig, it was widely believed that the two musicians got into a tiff backstage, leading to Morrissey’s untimely exit. In 2006, Bowie turned down an offer to collaborate with Morrissey on Ringleader of the Tormentors, and he again rejected Moz in 2013 when the latter sought to use an image of the pair as the artwork for his reissue of The Last of the Famous International Playboys. Instead, Morrissey was forced to go with a photo of Rick Astley. Years later, and even after Bowie’s untimely passing, it seems as if Morrissey still harbors a grudge.
Instead, Bowie took his music on a more conventional tour from late 1995 to early 1996. Bowie toured with Nine Inch Nails in support of his album, called the "Outside Tour". Morrissey opened for Bowie in the UK in September peaking with three shows at the Wembley Arena in London Track listing.
The cliche about David Bowie says he's a musical chameleon, adapting himself according to fashion and trends. Bowie returned to a solo career in 1993 with the sophisticated, soulful Black Tie White Noise, recording the album with Nile Rodgers and his now-permanent collaborator, Reeves Gabrels. He quickly returned to the studio in 1996, recording Earthling, an album heavily influenced by techno and drum'n'bass.

1. Outside bears the subtitle "The Diary of Nathan Adler or The Art-Ritual Murder of Baby Grace Blue. A Non-Linear Gothic Drama Hyper-Cycle. Alright, so it reeks of pretension. One belabors the point because Bowie at his best has always been pretentious, risque, creatively (if sometimes contrivedly) over the top. Outside marks the first in a planned series of collaborations with t, producer, and conceptualist Brian Eno based on a Bowie short story.
