Fantastic, Vol. 2 (also referred to as Fantastic Volume II) is the second album by American hip hop group Slum Village, released on June 13, 2000. During the time of its release the group was still composed of its earliest members T3, Baatin and J Dilla. The album was initially completed in 1998 for A&M Records shortly before the label became obsolete, leaving Slum Village in limbo for over a year.

Jay Dee's solid production track record for renowned artists such as Common and Q-Tip garnered the majority of the hype for this Detroit trio's second album. He specializes in a clean, musical style of hip-hop beats with an emphasis on crisp acoustic percussion and other classic funk sounds.

However, A&M folded before the album was able to be released and it wouldn't be until 2000 that "Fantastic Vol. 2" finally came out. Note: as you can see in the images, there is no album title listed here so I don't know if the album was always meant to be entitled "Fantastic Vol. That's just an educated guess on my part. There are several differences between this and the final 2000 album. 1) The sequencing was reshuffled. 2) Songs included here but missing from the 2000 album: "We Be Dem," "We Be Dem-T.

Slum Villages album "Fantastic Vol. 2" was slated for a 1998 release, but never saw the light of day until 2000. For me, the standout on this album is J Dee's production. Most of the beats here are fantastic themselves. I find some of the best beats on the album are on songs such as "I Don't Know" that features Jazzy Jeff scratching at the end of the song, and "Hold Tight" feauring Q-Tip with the help of D'Angelo's piano. It's a shame Slum Village wouldn't capture the same vibe on their later album as they did on this one (and probably never now due to J Dilla passing). More than likely, if you're a fan of groups like A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots, you'll more than likely like this album.
