L’Arte dell’Arco is a brilliant ensemble and its director, Frederico Guglielmo, infuses the vigor and love of Vivaldi into these concertos. Antonio Vivaldi being a celibate priest (truly, it is said), yet had a strong love for the young virtuoso Anna Maria, possibly his finest pupil. The music he wrote for her is among the finest he produced, and this recording presents these concertos with all the devotion and refinement they deserve.

Includes FREE MP3 version of this album. NOT "big band" Vivaldi, even by the standards of the late 20th century. However, this does NOT mean their sound is anemic. Instead, there is sufficient heft in the concerti while also allowing a nimbleness in tempi and rhythms and leaving the listener much more aware of the individual textures, especially the balance between soloists, strings and continuos.
