Antal Dorati conducts the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra with the University of Minnesota Brass Band in the 1812, and the London Symphony Orchestra in Wellington's Victory, and the playing in all the works is energetic and colorful, with barely a flaw worth mentioning.
Tchaikovsky: 1812 Overture; Marche Slave; Romeo and Juliet; Capriccio Italien; Hamlet. Unlike so many 1812 album covers that proudly proclaim 'GENUINE CANNON FIRE' or some such, you'll find no mention here either on the cover or the enclosed notes. That is really quite dis-satisfying. Even though it is all just noise, I would still prefer to know for my own enjoyment, what exactly they're doing.
