Frankie Paul (born Paul Blake, 1965, Jamaica ) is one of Jamaica's best-loved and popular dancehall reggae artists. Born almost blind, he has been dubbed by some 'The Jamaican Stevie Wonder'. He has recorded for virtually every producer/studio in Jamaica at some time, and has been known to release several albums a year. Do not confuse Paul "Frankie Paul" Blake with Paul Blake of The Bloodfire Posse, a band formed in 1983. Notable works of Frankie Paul include the popular "Sara" and "Worries in the Dance".

Adopting the stage name Frankie Paul, he first found fame in the early 1980s, and he recorded prolifically throughout the decade. Paul has resided in The Gambia since 1994. In January 2016 he underwent surgery to amputate a foot and part of his leg. Citation.

The singer Frankie Paul, who has died aged 51 of complications related to kidney failure, was a leading light in reggae music during the 1980s and 90s. He was one of the key figures in the movement away from Rasta-influenced roots reggae to the new ascendancy of less spiritual but hugely popular dancehall music, becoming a prolific recording artist with dozens of albums to his name and a global profile enhanced by touring.
