Ex-Garibaldi singer/actress Pilar Montenegro, who debuted in 1996 with Son del Corazón, brings listeners her first Latin pop full-length record under her contract with Univision Music Group. Titled after Roberto Carlos' classic "Desahogo," this album opens with a Latin pop/rock song called "Cuando Estamos Solos," followed by romantic ballads mostly composed by Rudy Pérez, including a ranchera version of "Alguien Que una Vez Amé," the norteño "Quítame Ese Hombre," and ending with a club/dance version of the opening track.

When Montenegro was 10 years old she landed her first acting part in the TV series Juguemos A Cantar. In 1989 she joined the group Garibaldi. During the mid '90s she began to appear in soap operas and left Garibaldi to pursue a solo career. By 1996 she released her debut album Son del Corazón. In 2001 Montenegro reemerged into the music scene by the hand of former husband and executive music producer Jorge Reynoso, after 6 months of recording with the Music production of Rudy Perez they released her second album Desahogo. The album produced the hit single, a cover of Yolandita.

The album is full of success. The first single "Quitame ese hombre" (Take away from me that man) became a hit for several weeks in the US and other countries including Spain. The hit of the song was so big that it also charted on The Hot 100 that it's actually for songs in English. It reached "Desahogo" has been certified Platinum x2 in the US and Mexico and Platinum and Gold in other countries.
