I purchased The Boss of the Blues - Joe Turner - Sings Kansas City Jazz the same time as VERY BEST OF BIG JOE TURNER. I am a little surprised how quickly I realized enjoying the 1956 Blues - Kansas City Jazz recording better than the BEST OF BIG JOE TURNER. Simply put, the BEST OF just has too much of that same "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" early hit, rock-n-roll, teen anthem song-sound. Heck, it says right in liner notes "Flip, Flop, and Fly" is basically the same song done on purpose to garner another quick-fix-hit.
