Cluster were a German musical group formed by the duo of Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius in 1971 and associated with West Germany's krautrock and kosmische music scenes. Borne from the earlier Berlin-based group Kluster, they relocated to the countryside village of Forst in 1973, where they built a studio and collaborated with musicians such as Conny Plank, Brian Eno, and Michael Rother; with the latter, they formed the influential side-project Harmonia.

Includes two informational 20-page booklets entitled '1971-1976' and '1977-1981'. Limited to 1,500 sets. All discs previously released except for 'Konzerte 1972/1977', presently exclusive to this set. 9-1 recorded live in Hamburg, 1972. 9-2 recorded live in Metz, 1977.

Cluster then moved from Brain Records to another visionary German label of the time, Sky Records, and entered their most prolific phase. Albums such as Sowiesoso contain some of their prettiest work, with Roedelius' soothing piano melodies complementing Moebius' pulsating electronics, but still containing an unpredictable, eccentric edge that prevents the music from disappearing into aural wallpaper. Two discs recorded with avowed fan Brian Eno brought Cluster international recognition and acclaim.

Cluster II is the second full-length album by German electronic music act Cluster, released in 1972 by record label Brain. Cluster II was recorded at Star-Studio in Hamburg, Germany in January 1972.

Exploratory yet grounded, futuristic yet melodic, alien and charming, Cluster were among the best krautrock bands ever.

Try to imagine yourself back in time about 45 years. The era highlighted on 1971-1981 was a very creative and productive time for the electronic avant-garde and musique concrètists. With each release, Cluster was riding on the crest of that wave. Two years later came Curiosum, Cluster's last album before going on hiatus for much of the '80s. Flip the record over and "Helle Melange" makes life a little easier a two-note figure repeating over top featherbed noodling.

I'm kind of disappointed in how noisy the records are, considering the price and packaging. I wrote the label about this and they basically told me too bad. I won't likely buy anything on Bureau b again.

Disappointing that the sleeves for each individual lp are not the same as the original release, just seems cheap somehow.

My copy has a booklet titled 1971-1981 and a thick card w/ print of front cover of box and numbered 111/200

As you can see on the bureau b website, it`s limited to 1000 and the first 200 orders also include a cover print.

Mine has the booklet, but no card with number. I thought there were 1,000 copies, not 200?

I got mine with limited (200 copies) and hand numbered cover print . Actually with two, because they are shipping it in too small and way to fragile package, and both art print and boxset arrived squeezed and twisted. Got replacement though (in the same kind of box ;)
