One" is a song by American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released as the third and final single from their fourth studio album,. And Justice for All (1988). Written by band members James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, "One" is an anti-war song that portrays a World War I soldier who is severely wounded - arms and legs blown off by a landmine, blind and unable to speak or move - begging God to take his life as he feels constant pain.
Metallica (also known as The Black Album) is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica and was released on August 12, 1991 through Elektra Records to critical acclaim. Metallica produced five hit singles that are considered today among the band's best-known songs: "Enter Sandman", "The Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters", "Wherever I May Roam", and "Sad But True", also Don't Tread on Me was released as a promo single.
Metallica (commonly known as The Black Album) is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. Released on August 12, 1991 by Elektra Records, it received widespread critical acclaim and became the band's best-selling album.
Colloquially known as the Black Album, Metallica‘s self-titled fifth album still towers over the modern hard-rock and metal landscape like a giant obsidian monolith

Notes
℗ 1993 Metallica © 1994 Metallica◌ Track A1: From the album ...And Justice For All
◌ Track A2: Obviously not produced by Metallica. This is the original demo of 'ONE' that we recorded on Jaymz's 4-track right after we wrote the song around the second week of November '87. It's basically just guitars, drums, and vocals with Kirk coming in and laying down the last solo after he'd only heard the song the day before, and since there were only four recording tracks available, there's no bass.
◌ Track B1: Recorded live at the Sports Arena, San Diego, CA on January 13, 1992. Original version available on ...And Justice For All . Taken from the box Live Shit: Binge & Purge
