Grobschnitt - The International Story. Only for completionists (0%). In the late Seventies I discovered a record store that sold German Progressive Rock (aka 'Krautrock'), within a very short time I had bought many albums from Jane, Novalis, Eloy and. Grobschnitt, in my opinion the most unique German progrock band. I've never heard a Grobschnitt studio album but my intuition tells me that this live overview may not be a bad place for noobs to begin.
Grobschnitt was a West German rock band which existed between 1970 and 1989. Their style evolved as time passed, beginning with psychedelic rock in the early 1970s before transitioning into symphonic progressive rock, NDW and finally pop rock in the mid-1980s. Grobschnitt, unlike other bands, utilized humor in their music in the form of unexpected noises and silly lyrics and concepts.
Later Grobschnitt is releasing at least one album each year almost only with songs recorded during the golden days of the band.
The artwork, CD and catalogue number are identical to the original release 1983324, but this version includes obi with an additional catalogue number and a Japanese liner notes insert.
