Solger was considered by many as the first hardcore punk band in Seattle. The name Solger was a misspelling of Soldier, coming from their anti-draft song Dead Soldier. Their five song self-titled 7" record and its super lo-fi sound become a collectors item, as well as setting the standard for comparison by other lo-fi punk recordings worldwide. Paul Dana (guitar), also known as Paul Solger, started the band after meeting Kyle Nixon (vocals) in May 1980.

So fucking good. Seattle hardcore punks. Amazing! Only the real fuckin' punks know about bands like this. Had the Codex 1980 comp. back in '03 or '04 or '05.
" This is it : the grungiest piss-poor crud-thunk rec since the Screamin' Meemies. Don't know where ya can find it exactly, but if yr a fan of actual no-value garbage ya gotta have it. Even rawer than the NEOS. Im-fuckin'-peccable. "review by Byron Coley, from Take It ! #6 MA 1982."...this is the worstestly recorded record I've ever heard in all me born days (except for the Fuckin Flyin A-heads live ep) ! It fuckin dominates! Great subterreanean trash punk noise. Classic toons like "Raping Dead Nuns", "American Youth", etcNorbies Ma: "you wouldn't sing a song like that in your band, would you?" Norbie: "Oh yeah, she's full of mold.." Support Scum Rock!!! "review Rev. Norbie, SICK TEEN fanzine 1982." True hardcore. This e.p. has been out for some time now and the reaction has been fairly quiet. Strange, cos this is a beast of a record. One of the worst recorded pieces of shit you're ever going to hear, and not incidently, also one of the best. Five great beatings accented by vocals wrenched from somewhere down deep inside. An underground classic. "review from Tension In The Cathedral #1 New Hampshire 5/82.
it was 514 copies - not 541, and the rarest copy out these was one copy pressed with a Bing Crosby's White Christmas label on it by mistake by the pressing plant in Sumner, Washington. I had to sell it, otherwise it would not be known to the world - but that was cool. Kyle Nixon of Solger
