Текст песни: Barkin' Up The Wrong Tree (Don Woody - Paul Simmons) Well I went to my baby on bended knees Baby, baby, baby, will you marry me? . She said: sorry daddy but what can I say NC I found a new love just the other day Chorus: And you’re barking up the wrong tree Well, you’re barking up the wrong tree Yes, you’re barking up the wrong tree That’s what she said to me Well I pleaded and begged nearly out of my mind I said: baby, baby, baby, girls are hard to find She said: sorry daddy but try to understand I’m goin' with the cutest guy in the land Chorus Now, my heart was broken and it felt so blue I said: baby, baby, baby, does it mean we’re through?

By this time Woody was working as a warm-up act on the Ozark Jubilee show hosted by Red Foley, and had met his manager, Gary Walker. Walker hustled the tapes to Decca Records, and one of the songs, Bigelow 6-200, became Brenda Lee's debut single in 1956. That would be the story, except serious rockabilly fans and record collectors never forgot You’re Barking Up the Wrong Tree, and Woody caught an improbable second act as a rockabilly singer on the nostalgia circuit. This 11-track set from Bear Family Records has Woody's entire recorded legacy, as well as the original single versions of Bigelow 6-200 by Brenda Lee and The Rope, another Woody-Simmons composition, by Billy Eustis.

You’ll discover why some of us are orchids and others dandelions, what pirates and prison inmates can teach us about honesty and generosity, how to network like the world’s greatest mathematician, and much, much more. Barking Up The Wrong Tree is a brilliant kaleidoscope of a book. It shines with so many insights you might need sunglasses to read it! But the real proof is in the pudding, right?
