Wellington is a music singles/eps/fan club/promo recording by THE NOCTURNES (Prog Folk/Progressive Rock) released in 2008 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette.
The Nocturnes can refer to one of three groups: 1. A vocal group, active in the late 1960s, that featured future members of The New Seekers. They were a 6-piece Mamas and Papas-style vocal group signed to EMI in 1967. Tim Rice wrote lyrics to the b-sides of their two EMI singles, neither of which charted. They are still active, performing live and releasing several live CDs and videos.
Nocturnes is the second studio album by English singer and songwriter Little Boots. It was released on 3 May 2013 on her record label On Repeat Records. Featuring production from DFA's Tim Goldsworthy, Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford and Hercules and Love Affair's Andy Butler, the album "celebrates 90s house, seventies disco and futuristic electronics". According to Little Boots, the record is titled Nocturnes because it is "an album indebted to the night".
With her first band, the Nocturnes, she released the Wellington EP (2008) and two albums, A Year of Spring (2009) and Aokigahara (2011). Rundle also joined Red Sparowes and played on their third album, The Fear Is Excruciating, But Therein Lies the Answer, released by Sargent House on April 6, 2010. She self-released an ambient guitar album, Electric Guitar: One, in 2011. It was later reissued in 2014 by Errant Child Recordings Rundle's official debut solo studio album, Some Heavy Ocean, was released on May 20, 2014 by Sargent House. It was co-produced by Chris Common and recorded at the Sargent House studio.
This nocturnes album is more subtle than a lot of her other work, but it goes a long way in showcasing her range. As always, Emma's voice is like thread sewn through the many influences on display. Michael Keerdo-Dawson. The Nocturnes: the folkgaze brainchild of guitarist/vocalist Emma Ruth Rundle now joined by Dave Clifford, Julian Rifkin and Paris Patt have created the 8-song album (Aokigahara) which ventures into multiple textures of style and sound that create a lush haze of melody that blends hints of folk, shoegaze, chamber pop, goth and post-rock.
