The 15th Fabric mix comes from Craig Richards, the same DJ who initiated the popular but unreliable series in November of 2001. The biggest risk taken on disc one is that no risks are taken; Richards consciously avoids anything with substantial hooks, not wanting to include anything that the listener might grow tired of after a few listens.

Sasha - fabric 99 Of course Sasha was chosen to mix fabric 99, the second-last instalment in the London club's revered series. His relationship with the venue goes back almost 20 years-he played one of the club's earliest parties in November 1999-and he's arguably dance music's premier mix CD specialist, responsible not only for helping spawn the format with Renaissance: The Mix Collection alongside John Digweed in 1994, but for delivering some of its greatest-ever volumes. After "Needle & Thread," the mix returns to big-room house and techno, though this time the melodies are brighter, the atmospheres more dramatic. On its own, it's the least captivating passage-loopy, loud and occasionally cheesy. With Reilly's mix, some of the music is lovely, but thinking back to Richards' Tyrant, it's not even that important to mix smoothly if the track selection is good enough.

Rather than continue the robohouse journey and merely ramping up the tempo, Richards flys around the styles from electronic dub to punky electro house before Chicks On Speed's Frequent Flyer Lounge kicks off a wicked little electro breaks section. After having bought the second Tyrant CD, "No Shoes No Cake", which literally blew me away as being one of the the finest House mixes I have ever listened to, I have to admit I was massively dissappointed with this album. Ok, so Craig is trying something new, which is commendable as opposed to treading over the same ground; but for the life of me I can't make up my mind if this mix is simply very over indulgent or too minimalist and cerebral in style for me to form anything other than a vague mental appreciation of.
