Formed in 1987 The Stunning broke up in 1994 having released just three albums. But in their absence the songs grew stronger and were rarely off the airwaves. Their debut album "Paradise in the Picturehouse", spent 5 weeks at No. 1 in 1990, and has since been re-issued. The band now reform every couple of years with the original members and play to packed venues around Ireland.

In 1990 their debut album Paradise In The Picturehouse spent five weeks at number one and became one of the most-loved Irish albums of all time. Two years later, the follow up Once Around The World also hit the number one spot, and the band went on to sell over 100,000 albums in Ireland alone. Brewing Up A Storm has become an anthem of sorts and is to be heard everywhere from football stadiums to clubs around the country where it is still a guaranteed floor-filler. After brief name changes The Stunning was settled upon and the band played it’s first show in the Hilltop Hotel, Salthill, Galway under the new moniker. The original line-up also included Donal Duggan (saxophone), Ronan Kavanagh (keyboards) and Paddy Schutte (trombone), the latter three all leaving after the first couple of years to pursue other careers.

The Stunning were formed in 1987 and split up in 1994 but somehow the band’s reputation has grown in the intervening years. In the seven years the band were together they toured relentlessly around Ireland building up a following that would make them one of the most successful acts on the live circuit throughout the early nineties. The Stunning’s debut album ‘Paradise in the Picturehouse’ was released in the summer of 1990. It reached number one in the Irish album charts and stayed at the top for 5 weeks going on to achieve multi-platinum status. Stunning brothers Steve and Joe formed The Walls in 1998 and released three acclaimed albums. Stop the Lights (2012); New Dawn Breaking (2005) and Hi Lo (2000). Songs from the albums have been included on various movies (Begin Again, On the Edge), TV shows and commercials.
