John Rockford "Rocky" Hill (December 1, 1946 – April 10, 2009) was a blues guitarist, singer, and bassist from Dallas, Texas, United States. Hill was the older brother of ZZ Top bassist, Dusty Hill. Hill was a member of the 1960s acid rock and blues group American Blues with his brother Dusty and drummer Frank Beard. Before the formation of ZZ Top, Rocky left the trio and subsequently played in blues bands for John Lee Hooker, Lightnin' Hopkins (for whom he played bass), Freddie King, and Jimmy Reed.
Rocky Hill is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 19,709 at the 2010 census. Originally land of the Wangunks (a tribe of Native Americans), Europeans began to settle the area of Rocky Hill in 1650, as part of Wethersfield, the neighboring town to the north. In 1722, the area became known as Stepney Parish, until it was independently incorporated in 1843
Rocky Hill was born John Rockford Hill on December 1, 1946 in Dallas, Texas; and is the older brother to ZZ Top Bassit Dusty Hill. At the age of 15 Rocky formed a band with younger brother Dusty on bass, and Frank Beard on Drums originaly calling themselves The Starliners before finaling calling themselves American Blues. They dyed their hair blue to go along with the blues fused psycedlia music that was popular during the late 60's.
