Shylock - Shylock album flac

This is SHYLOCK's second and final album. For me this is a definite upgrade over the debut, and they've added a bass player making them a four piece band. Shylock were similair to Italian bands in that they only left behind two albums worth of material, but they definitely did their part in saying a lot with a little. This all-instrumental album is most likely classified as symphonic, as it carries many of the dark overtones of compatriots Arachnoid and Pulsar, but Shylock also feature a strong fusion angle, especially through the guitar.

Shylock is a character in William Shakespeare's play The Merchant of Venice (c. 1600). A Venetian Jewish moneylender, Shylock is the play's principal antagonist. His defeat and conversion to Christianity form the climax of the story. Shylock is not a Jewish name. However, some scholars believe it probably derives from the biblical name Shalah, which is שלח (Shelach) in Hebrew. Shalah is the grandson of Shem and the father of Eber, biblical progenitor of Hebrew peoples.

Shylock at the time were the best newcomers in his style. The group's music is full of ideas and never for a second boring creates mood. Fans of melodic material, and hard and soft, should not miss this album. Band from Würzburg, Germany, formed in 1998 by guitarist and vocalist Johannes Löhr Matthias Schenk. In 1999 they released their first album called Shylock.
