Texas Flood is the first studio album by the American blues rock band Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, released on June 13, 1983 by Epic Records. The album was named after a cover featured on the album "Texas Flood", recorded by blues singer Larry Davis in 1958. Produced by the band and recording engineer Richard Mullen, it was recorded in only three days at Jackson Browne's personal recording studio in Los Angeles. Vaughan wrote six of the ten tracks on Texas Flood.
Couldn't Stand the Weather is the second studio album by American blues rock band Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. It was released on May 15, 1984, by Epic Records as the follow-up to the band's critically and commercially successful 1983 album, Texas Flood. Recording sessions took place in January 1984 at the Power Station in New York City. Stevie Ray Vaughan wrote half the tracks on Couldn't Stand the Weather.
Texas guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan seemed to come out of nowhere in the early '80s with a guitar style that was half Albert King and half Jimi Hendrix, and his then-refreshing approach to the blues and blues-rock has made him perhaps the most influential hard rock guitarist of the past two decades. This set collects several of the key tracks in Vaughan's too-short career, including classics Texas Flood, Pride and Joy, and Crossfire, making it a nice, concise introduction to his impressive catalog.
Blues-rock trio from Texas - the late Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar, Tommy Shannon on bass, and Chris Layton on drums.
This double album is the ultimate anthology of blues rock guitar genius Stevie Ray Vaughan's brilliant but tragically brief career. With a discography spanning just eight years, the Texas axeman almost single-handedly brought the blues back into the mainstream with searing shuffles like "Pride and Joy" and tender instrumentals like the aqueous "Lenny," which simultaneously channelled Jimi Hendrix and Albert King. This double album is the ultimate anthology of blues rock guitar genius Stevie Ray Vaughan's brilliant but tragically brief career.
