Bill Barron's final album (which has been reissued on CD) finds the distinctive but underrated tenorman (then about to turn 60 and two years before his death) playing five of his obscure but superior originals, including "This One's for Monk" and "Travelin' on the Freeway," plus pianist Kenny Barron's blues "Row House. The two brothers are joined by bassist Ray Drummond and drummer Ben Riley for a consistently stimulating advanced post-bop outing, one of Bill Barron's finest recordings.
