Randolph's Leap were formed in 2006 when lead singer Adam Ross (originally from Nairn, Scotland) met Gareth Perrie (from Dunblane) at The University of the West of Scotland in Ayr. Around 2009 the band expanded to a six piece with the addition of Vicki Cole on bass (from Aberdeen, Scotland), Heather Thickey on violin (also from Aberdeen), Iain Taylor on drums (from Dumfries) and Andrew MacLellan on guitar and cello (from Crieff).

As befits the tone of its title, Clumsy Knot starts with a pure shot of gangly, hesitant trepidation. I know people like me like to judge people like me, croons the band’s singer and songwriter Adam Ross in a crystalline falsetto. A brand new Randolph's Leap song, Television, was premiered on The Roddy Hart Show on BBC Radio Scotland last night. You can hear it by jumping to 1hr 16 minutes. Randolph's Leap is an SSSI and area of countryside in Moray, Scotland. The area surrounds the River Findhorn and is actually named after the point at the river where the sheer rock banks are closest, where according to legend Thomas Randolph, later Earl of Moray, was pursuing a Comyn, who leaped to the other side and escaped back to his castle. The Comyn castle fell and the lands were granted by King Robert to Randolph. The name gradually changed from Comyn's Leap to Randolph's Leap.
