Juan Peña El Lebrijano died last night, at 75, on his Sevillian house at San Julián square. It’s a great loss for the flamenco family, in particular, but also for universal art because, as great writer Gabriel García Márquez once said, when Lebrijano sings, the water gets wet. Some of his most important solo works would be De Sevilla a Cádiz (1969); a tribute to the ‘route of big cante’; La palabra de Dios a un gitano (1972), the first approach of flamenco to the symphonic world and choral voices; Persecución (1976), a defense of the gypsy peoples that became a social landmark; or Ven y Sígueme (1982), where he collaborated.

Sheet Music and Tabs for El Lebrijano. Juan Peña Fernández (8 August 1941 – 13 July 2016), also known as Juan Peña "El Lebrijano" or simply El Lebrijano, was a Spanish Gitano (Roma) musician, the nephew of Perrate de Utrera. Born in Lebrija, province of Seville, he began to play flamenco guitar as a child, accompanying singers such as La Paquera de Jerez in 1950, but eventually turned to Flamenco singing. In 1964, he won the championship at the Competition of Mairena del Alcor, one of the most important Flamenco music festivals.
