Next is the fifth studio album by alternative metal band Sevendust, released on October 11, 2005, a little over two years after their previous album, Seasons. Lajon Witherspoon – lead vocals. John Connolly – lead guitar, backing vocals. Sonny Mayo – rhythm guitar. Vinnie Hornsby – bass. Morgan Rose – drums, backing vocals.

Seasons is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Sevendust. It would be the band's final album with TVT Records and was dedicated to the memory of Reginald Witherspoon (Lajon Witherspoon's younger brother) and Dave Williams (Drowning Pool's original singer), the former was murdered in November 2002 and the latter died of cardiomyopathy in August 2002. Seasons was, for a time, the band's last album with Clint Lowery as he left in 2004. Lowery would return to Sevendust in March 2008.

On "Seasons" Sevendust took the play book from the past and tweaked their sound to a cutting edge performance, relying on strong song writing skills and balancing the melody between the brutality. Clint and John bring the aggressive edge into the music with their guitar work. Sevendust had released their last great album. The signature sound that has held them so far in their career has been ended. However, they have seemed to slowly recuperate from their loss and move on with "Alpha", a promising album for the future of Sevendust.

In the late '90s and early 2000s, there were countless alternative metal bands that were similar to Sevendust in many respects - bands that could be bone crushing but also had a sense of melody; bands that thrived on dark, angst-ridden lyrics and were as angry as they were introspective. But most of them couldn't match Sevendust's excellence; even if they had the basics down, their writing wasn't as consistent. Released in 2003, the Atlanta residents' fourth album, Seasons, came six years after their 1997 debut - and creatively, they didn't lose any momentum on this forceful yet melodic CD.
