Led Zeppelin's second album was recorded during the precious little downtime they had on their endless 1969 world tour. It took them months to record in studios all across America and Europe, yet somehow it sounds cohesive. The track listing almost reads like a greatest hits collection: "Whole Lotta Love," "Thank You," "Heartbreaker," "What Is And What Should Never Be" and "Bring It On Home. No band (with the possible exception of The Who) was able to compete with this. It's forty-two years later, and high school kids are still blasting this thing in their cars. And if you ask us, they'll probably be blasting in in their flying cars forty-two years from now. It will never go away, and it never should. In This Article: Jimmy Page, John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant.

Led Zeppelin were an English rock band who recorded 108 songs between 1968 and 1980. Their self-titled debut album, Led Zeppelin, released in early 1969, contained songs that were influenced by the genres of blues, hard rock and heavy metal

Led Zeppelin is the debut album by English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was released on 12 January 1969 in the United States and on 31 March in the United Kingdom by Atlantic Records. The album was recorded in September and October 1968 at Olympic Studios, London, shortly after the band's formation. It contains a mix of original material worked out in the first rehearsals, and remakes and rearrangements of contemporary blues and folk songs

The discography of the English rock band Led Zeppelin consists of eight studio albums, four live albums, nine compilation albums, sixteen singles and eight music downloads. Formed in London in 1968, the group consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bass player John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham. The band pioneered the concept of album-oriented rock and often refused to release popular songs as singles.

Led Zeppelin had a fully formed, distinctive sound from the outset, as their eponymous debut illustrates. Taking the heavy, distorted electric blues of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, and Cream to an extreme, Zeppelin created a majestic, powerful brand of guitar rock constructed around simple, memorable riffs and lumbering rhythms. But the key to the group's attack was subtlety: it wasn't just an onslaught of guitar noise, it was shaded and textured, filled with alternating dynamics and tempos. As Led Zeppelin proves, the group was capable of such multi-layered music from the start.

This Led Zeppelin discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top Led Zeppelin albums can be found at the top of the list. To make it easy for you, we haven't included singles, EPs, or compilations, so everything you see here should only be studio albums.

Led Zeppelin formed out of the ashes of The Yardbirds. Jimmy Page had joined the band in its final days, playing a pivotal role on the group's final album, 1967's Little Games, which also featured string arrangements from John Paul Jones. During 1967, the Yardbirds were fairly inactive. Whilst the band members decided the group's future, Page returned to session work in 1967. It doesn't matter what genre of music you favour and even (like me) you think that heavy metal is rather embarrassing, this album is a work of art. I can't quite put my finger on it or explain why it works so well (guitar solos tend to bore me), but on this album, it all works so beautifully. Whatever you pay for this on vinyl, it is money well spent.

I bought a Led Zeppelin album just for this song. The dark opening, the heavy riff, the buildup, the otherworldly guitar sequences, capped by an ending of indescribable and stunning freedom-epitomizing guitar playing make for the greatest song of all time.

Led Zeppelin III. Often referred to as the acoustic album. Again, an amazing album, that added poetic subtlety to the Zeppelin sound, but best is a high bar when talking about this band. To me, Led Zeppelin IV is where they really hit their stride and found their complete sound. This album often gets overlooked for being overplayed. Physical Graffiti draws this into sharp relief. The music is excellent and so are the recording techniques. Everything jumps off the vinyl and hits you where it counts. This is the era of the sound painting styles so hearing the albums as they were originally assembled makes for a better experience than the later compilations.
