The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, often known as Jazz Fest, is an annual celebration of the music and culture of New Orleans and Louisiana. The term "Jazz Fest" also refers to the days surrounding the festival and the many shows at unaffiliated New Orleans nightclubs scheduled during the festival weekends. The show is entitled The Life and Times of Lil Hardin Armstrong and is the song writing of Lil - also some stuff she wrote for Louis Armstrong’s Hot 5. The show finishes with Just For A Thrill, which was a big hit by Peggy Lee and Ray Charles.

The Foundation uses the proceeds from Jazz Fest, and other revenues, for year-round activities in the areas of education, economic development and cultural enrichment. Education programs include the Don Moose Jamison Heritage School of Music, the Tom Dent Congo Square Lecture Series and the Class Got Brass competition. Economic Development initiatives include the Community Partnership Grants, the Sync Up entertainment industry conference and the Jazz & Heritage Talent Exchange web site. The Glass House was a tiny club on South Saratoga Street in New Orleans. The Rebirth Brass Band and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band played there every Monday night for several years, wailing right next to the dancers. The scene was joyous, gymnastic and wild.
