Between 2008–10 eagleowl released two EPs and a single to widespread national critical acclaim: For the Thoughts You Never Had EP (2008: Fife Kills Records); 7 inch single Sleep The Winter (2009: Kilter); and Into the Fold EP (2010: Kilter). Sleep The Winter was featured on the soundtrack to BBC drama Lip Service on 9 November 2010 and Into the Fold EP has received radio play from XFM, BBC Radio Scotland's Vic Galloway and BBC 6 Music's Gideon Co. .

Night Thoughts is the seventh studio album by English alternative rock band Suede. Produced by long-time collaborator Ed Buller, the album was released through Warner Music UK on 22 January 2016 to widespread critical acclaim. It was accompanied by a feature film, directed by Roger Sargent.

On 13 May, Fence Records releases eagleowl’s debut album. In contrast to the previous two EPs and single, This Silent Year seems more consistent. For instance, there is no glockenspiel anymore; instead the focus is on string instruments such as electric guitar, violin, cello and double bass, with support from drums, harmonium and organ. However, the instruments still lead and the songs are still taking their time to build. Or, in the case of Not Over and Eagleowl vs Woodpigeon, haunting thoughts that repeat in your head like unanswered questions, beautifully phrased by Bartholomew Owl, Malcom Benzie and Clarissa Cheong. While the album, with the exception of a few brighter moments, thoughtfully walks the listener through loss, the last track Laughter, familiar from the single Sleep for the Winter, offers a decision: for once, a song ends on vocals and it ends on the line I won’t see this through.
