3 + 3 is the eleventh album released by The Isley Brothers for the Epic label under their T-Neck imprint on August 7, 1973. Their first album for the label after several years in Buddah Records, it was also the first time the family group, which had consisted of founding members O'Kelly Isley, J. Rudolph Isley and Ronald Isley, officially included six members instead of the standard three.
3 + 3 is the eleventh album released by The Isley Brothers for the Epic label under their T-Neck imprint in August 7, 1973.
With this album, the Isleys moved their T-Neck label from Buddah to Epic/CBS (which became Epic/Sony in the early '90s), and it was at Epic that they unveiled their new lineup. Lead singer Ronald Isley and his siblings O'Kelly and Rudolph remained, but the Isleys became a sextet instead of a trio when cousin Chris Jasper and younger brothers Ernie and Marvin were added. This new lineup was called 3 + 3, and the addition of Jasper on keyboards, Ernie on guitar, and Marvin on bass added exciting new elements to the Isleys' sound.

The Isleys were already tight with just Ronald, Rudolph, and O’Kelly, but they did the smartest thing by including Marvin,Ernie, and Chris Jasper. For years the momentum was building up to this point (Brother, Brother, Brother in particular), but 3+3 just knocked everything out the box. There were no rules here.
The Isley Brothers (/ˈaɪzliː/) are an American musical group originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, that started as a vocal trio consisting of brothers O'Kelly Isley J. Rudolph Isley and Ronald Isley. The group has been cited as having enjoyed one of the "longest, most influential, and most diverse careers in the pantheon of popular music". Alongside a fourth brother, Vernon, the group performed gospel music until Vernon's death a few years after its formation
Compiling an essential double-album set for the satin-voiced Isley Brothers is difficult, given the musical range of their decades-long career. But this one’s the best.

The founding members were O'Kelly Isley, Jr. (1937 - 1986), Rudolph Isley, Ronald Isley and Vernon Isley (1942–1955). They are the only act to have at least one Hot 100 hit in each of six consecutive decades: the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.
