Arena (An Absurd Notion) is a concept concert video filmed during the course of Duran Duran's 1984 Sing Blue Silver North American Tour in support of the album Seven and the Ragged Tiger. Instead of releasing a straight concert video, Duran Duran and director Russell Mulcahy chose to play with the origins of the band's name (the 1968 film Barbarella), and added a storyline and surreal elements that are interwoven with footage of the band performing on stage.
Arena is a live album by English new wave band Duran Duran. It was released on 12 November 1984 by Parlophone. In 2004, the album was reissued on CD in remastered form with two bonus tracks. To cap off the band's highly successful 1983–1984 "Sing Blue Silver" World Tour, EMI released a live album, which according to the sleeve was "recorded around the world 1984".

Sing Blue Silver is a documentary about Duran Duran's 1983-1984 World Tour directed by Michael Collins. Sing Blue Silver was originally released on videotape (in VHS and Betamax formats) and on laserdisc, near the end of 1984. It was re-issued on DVD in April 2004. Primarily, Sing Blue Silver is about the job of making music, so live musical performances feature quite heavily throughout the video. The documentary features many other standout moments, including a Francesco Scavullo photo shoot in New York, meeting the . Raiders backstage, and a Beatles-style press conference tinged with a bit of comedy. Live footage from this tour was later used for the Arena (An Absurd Notion) long-form video and the As The Lights Go Down concert video.
Duran Duran continues to perform throughout, as much chaos ensues around them. Duran Duran are captured at their musical best in Arena by award winning director, Russell Mulcahy, who was to hone his skills working on music promos through the 80's. Also includes the Making Of Arena documentary which opens the lid on the creative processes involved with making Arena. Filmed at the MEN Arena in Manchester on December 16th 2011, this stunning Duran Duran live show is the perfect combination of great music, amazing visuals and iconic style which has been the band’s trademark throughout their career. Following the release of their acclaimed All You Need Is Now album, this concert combines new songs from that release with their classic hits.
Seeing Duran Duran in concert in 1984 was like seeing a video come to life. The group put on a spectacular show filled with impressive light shows and videos. Since the concerts featured so many visuals, the band could not vary the tempos greatly, resulting in music that nearly replicated the studio versions of the songs. Arena accurately reproduces the sound and feeling of these concerts. The new Nile Rodgers-produced single "The Wild Boys" was added to the album as bait and the strategy worked: peaking at number four, Arena was Duran Duran's highest-charting album and it sold over two million copies. Nevertheless, it's the most inconsequential album in their entire catalog, even if it's fun. Track Listing.
