Frida ensam (English: Frida Alone) is the second studio album by Swedish singer Anni-Frid Lyngstad. It was produced by her then-fiancé, Benny Andersson, both members of the pop group ABBA, and was first released by Polar Music in 1975. It has since been re-released several times, most significantly in remastered form in 2005 with bonus tracks. The lead song was Frida's solo version of "Fernando" (written and produced by Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus). All lyrics are in Swedish.
Frida Ensam dates from the aftermath of the first flourish of ABBA's success, as the vocalist decided to step out on her own after a hiatus of some three years - although produced by her then-husband, Benny Andersson, the album features repertoire that will surprise those accustomed to hearing Frida's voice doing group originals. At the time, she wasn't trying for anything groundbreaking or earth-shattering but, rather, simply to keep her hand in some solo work.
Frida Ensam (Frida Alone) was recorded in stops and starts across 18 months as the juggernaut that was ABBA interrupted sessions for recording and promotional work that prioritised the Waterloo and ABBA albums. Frida’s then-fiancé and bandmate Benny Andersson produced the album that, excluding ‘Fernando’, was a collection of covers reflecting the couple’s eclectic musical tastes
