A Show of Hands is a live album by the Canadian rock band Rush, released in 1989. The band released a video of the same name, originally on VHS and LaserDisc, the same year. A DVD version was released as part of a box set in 2006, and as an individual DVD in 2007. The majority of the performances on this album were from the 1988 Hold Your Fire tour, recorded in the American cities of New Orleans, Phoenix, and San Diego, and the British city of Birmingham.

Even the most die-hard Rush fans will say that they hate the period from around the mid 1980's to the end of that decade. While some fans (me and KILL and jethro42 and 420yeah) adore the period and appreciate that a band can change its sound without "selling out" as they say, the synths were, at times, a bit overdone during this period, although most Rush fans will tell you that there were definitely some great songs made. Like every era of Rush's career, they usually end things with a live album.

Although their fans treat the three members of Rush as if they were the Holy Trinity, the band chose the theme of another threesome - the Three Stooges - as the opening fanfare for its third live set. It’s a bit of self-effacement to be found nowhere else on this album. Most of the material on A Show of Hands is from Power Windows (1985) and Hold Your Fire (1987). Many of the performances stick closely to the studio versions, even down to having ’til Tuesday’s Aimee Mann repeat her backing-vocal stint for Time Stand Still
