Both this set and Clark's self-titled follow-up have a wide range of vocal and musical dynamics in the modern soul idiom that is quite rare. This one stands a few notches above its successor due to a raw, electric energy between Clark and fellow musicians not quite achieved on the latter. Rhonda Clark (born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in Flint, Michigan) is a female R&B singer, songwriter, producer, and composer. In 1989, Rhonda released her debut album, "Between Friends" on Tabu Records which peaked at on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. The first single from the album, "State of Attraction" peaked at on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 16 weeks, making it her highest chart appearance to date.
