Kissing to Be Clever is the debut album by the English band Culture Club, released on 4 October 1982 in the United Kingdom. It includes Culture Club's international breakthrough hit single, "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me", which reached number one in the band's native UK and the Top 10 of many charts around the world. The album has reportedly sold over 5 million copies worldwide, including over 1 million in the US where it has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

After Culture Club went DOA for a decade, the customary thing to do was put the hits together like this; also to fill up the contract. This was the last US release on Epic/CBS Records, and is possibly the rarest, as I found it by a million to one chance (CC on CBS CDs are as scarce as hen's teeth!). Shortly after, Virgin America opened and they reissued most if not all the studio albums, and then came countless repackagings of the most of the same material as this CD, some budget priced (I have one from Canada), others regularly priced (common practise in the business, I'm afraid!). It is the soul of Culture Club, with George and Helen Terry blasting away. This is the best greatest hits album of the 1980's.

Released more than two years after Waking Up With the House on Fire derailed Culture Club's hit-making ways, This Time gathers the songs of one of the most successful pop bands of the '80s. hits are included (save for "Mistake No. 3," which is understandable). Additionally, the collection includes non-album tracks like 12" mixes of "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" and "Miss Me Blind/It's a Miracle" and the lovely ballad "Love Is Love. The Best of Boy George and Culture Club, which also adds several Boy George solo hits, would be recommended for those with more interest.
