Obviously everybody has different tastes but this mix, for me at least, encompasses everything which a mix should be. It starts somewhat slowly and it keeps building and building and building until tracks like For One Hour and Envision just explode with energy. It's emotional, groovy, deep, makes you want to dance, and it ends fantastically with todd terje's snooze for love.

Recorded live at the intimate Robert Johnson club in Frankfurt, it's much less overtly weird and wonky than Thomas' two-disc Cosmo Galactic Prism, but still retains the stylish inventiveness that has made the man into a de facto statesman for disco's recent rehabilitation. After following Thomas on such a wild affair, however, you'd be forgiven for wondering what exactly disco is: it's by turns churning, spacey, dense, minimalist, throbbing, pointillistic, heartless and impassioned.

Robert Leroy Johnson (May 8, 1911 – August 16, 1938) was an American blues singer, songwriter and musician. His landmark recordings in 1936 and 1937 display a combination of singing, guitar skills, and songwriting talent that has influenced later generations of musicians. Johnson's poorly documented life and death have given rise to much legend. The one most closely associated with his life is that he sold his soul to the devil at a local crossroads to achieve musical success

Having manned the decks for nearly a decade at the club's Liquid night, Thomas Hamman and Gerd Janson are no newcomers to the world of house, and on Live at Robert Johnson Vol. 4, the duo weaves a striking, confident testament to the genre. Mirroring the exemplary track record of Janson's Running Back label, the selections here are impeccable.
