The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra is an Israeli symphony orchestra based in Tel Aviv. Its principal concert venue is the Charles R Bronfman Auditorium in Tel Aviv. The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was founded as the Palestine Orchestra by violinist Bronisław Huberman in 1936, at a time of the dismissal of many Jewish musicians from European orchestras. Its inaugural concert took place in Tel Aviv on December 26, 1936, conducted by Arturo Toscanini. Its first principal conductor was William Steinberg.

The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel Aviv ( IPO) is the leading symphony orchestra in Israel. Originally known as the Palestine Orchestra, the IPO was founded by violinist Bronisław Huberman in 1936, at a time when many Jewish musicians were being fired from European orchestras. Its inaugural concert took place in Tel Aviv on December 26, 1936, and was conducted by Arturo Toscanini. The IPO enjoys frequent international tours, including a tour of Germany in 1971, and has hosted some of the world's greatest conductors. Particularly associated with the orchestra are conductors Leonard.
In 2014, Judd became Music Director of the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion. He offered to waive his salary in 2015, in the wake of financial difficulties at the orchestra. In September 2016, Judd was appointed Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra in Korea. He became chief conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra as of the 2017-2018 season. Judd and his wife Valerie, a former member of the New World Symphony Orchestra, have a daughter. Founded in 1882 by Jewish immigrants from the Russian Empire, it was the second Jewish farm settlement established in the land of Israel in the 19th century, after Petah Tikva. In 2017, it was declared the fourth largest city in Israel with a population of 249,860.

The Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion (ISO) was founded in 1988 by the municipality of Rishon LeZion. A year later, in 1989, it became the resident orchestra of The Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv.
