Between this and their second album "Who's Afraid of the Art of Noise" was a promising project in progress called "Worship", which remained unfinished. This move made the album more palpable for the masses and was probably the right move, beyond the subtle criticism you undoubtedly picked up on in my track description. Worship" was a bit too aimless in its original incarnation: although I enjoy nearly every track on the album, it's kind of a chore to listen to it at times. Who's Afraid of the Art of Noise?" is a focused concentration of nearly everything the band did and is a much easier listen.
The title Into Battle With the Art of Noise says it all, because Art of Noise were probably one of the most combative bands around at the time, tackling preconceptions of what music is and how to write it, and combining modern technology and avant-garde techniques to create stunning new fusions.
