Kulembanban – Kid Dynamite Tribute. Fra Fra Sound mixes jazz, African rhythms, dance music from the Caribbean and Surinamese kaseko together with a wide range of melodies, grooves and themes from different cultures in a jazz setting. Touring the world has allowed Fra Fra Sound to blend musical styles from various traditions into their own. Fra Fra Sound was founded over almost 35 years ago and has done concerts in more than 50 countries throughout Europe, the Caribbean, South America, Asia and the United States.

Recording a tribute to a long-deceased man considered the father of Afro-Surinamese music isn't likely to be very high on most band's list of priorities. But it seemed to be in the cards for this particular band, since Fra Fra Sound is based in The Netherlands and that's where Afro-Surinamese music king Kid Dynamite did his most memorable work, primarily in the 1950s. Fra Fra Sound and guest vocalist Carlo Goedhart pay tribute to legendary tenor saxophonist Kid Dynamite (1911-1963). Born in Suriname, Kid Dynamite became one of The Netherlands' most colorful jazz musicians. Blending American jazz, Surinamese kaseko and calypso from Trinidad, he earned high respect from fellow musicians for his distinct style. His performances were never officially released on record, leaving behind a legacy mainly in the form of written compositions and lyrics. For this special project, 'Kulembanban' (meaning fowl from the rain forest, but also the cry of distress from someone lost in the jungle), the band reinterprets his rhythms and lyrics. The result is cheerful, groovy, and unexpectedly contemporar. .

Al Goodah has also been appearing as guest vocalist with Internationally acclaimed Dutch crossover band Fra-Fra Sound, notably during its highly successful Kulembanban Kid Dynamite National and International tour in Europe, North America and South America. Goodah’s distinctive and spontaneous vocal and musical style, aims to transport the listener from the uninspiring routine of everyday life to a world rich in warmth and emotion.
