Motown discs are a big part of the "Northern soul" scene in Britain, where 1960s soul records are collected and spun at dance clubs with a fanaticism seen nowhere else. This two-CD, 48-track set compiles a lot of the rarer and more sought-after Motown items among the Northern soul crowd. For those outside the . with little or no knowledge of the Northern soul cult, the raison d'être of this compilation means little or nothing.
