Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is an eight-piece, Chicago-based brass ensemble consisting of eight sons of the jazz trumpeter Phil Cohran. Their musical style ranges from hip hop to jazz to funk and rock, including calypso and gypsy music. They call their eclectic blend of sound "now music", or "Hypnotic". Reared in the teachings of music since they were children, they grew up on the stage playing as the "Phil Cohran Youth Ensemble".

This is my transcription of Hypnotic Brass Ensemble's "War - Hunger Games Version". It is in the original instrumentation, which is 4 trumpets, two trombones, a euphonium, and a sousaphone (I didn't write out a trap set part, although that's there too). Enjoy! The Chicago-rooted Hypnotic Brass Ensemble evokes that tradition but this electrifying group clearly has its own thing going on - eight of the members of this nine-piece drums-and-horns ensemble are sons of trumpeter Phil Cohran, who played with Sun Ra. The album kicks off with the rousing Alyo, a piece written by the elder Cohran. Funky tuba and drums back a great horn chart and chanting vocals, immediately establishing the album's high energy level

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are eight brothers from the south side of Chicago. They come from an extraordinary musical family. Other sisters and brothers are professional musicians, their mothers are singers, and Phillip Cohran, their father, has roots running back to Mississippi, his time in the musical hothouse of 1940s St. Louis, and his seminal role with Sun Ra in Chicago in the 1950s.

Very good album with the wrong production. Too jazzy and clean for a wild ensamble that deserves Steve Albini. Listen to War or B.Bone in the old 10" version and you'll get what I mean. Second album (with daddy) definitely better.
