The tracks were mostly recorded on December 3, 1963, and April 18, 1964, in New York City. It was released by Kapp Records in 1964 and became Armstrong's most commercially successful album.

Orville Couch had one big hit, "Hello Trouble," which made the country Top Five in Billboard but fared much poorer in Cash Box, where it peaked at number 22. The song has been revived several times, by Buck Owens on his album Together Again/My Heart Skips a Beat and, more recently, by the Desert Rose Band, for whom it was a hit in 1989.

Hello, Dolly! is a 1964 musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart, based on Thornton Wilder's 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers, which Wilder revised and retitled The Matchmaker in 1955. The musical follows the story of Dolly Gallagher Levi, a strong-willed matchmaker, as she travels to Yonkers, New York to find a match for the miserly "well-known unmarried half-a-millionaire" Horace Vandergelder.
