Horses is the debut studio album by American musician Patti Smith, released on November 10, 1975, on Arista Records. Smith, a fixture of the then-burgeoning New York punk rock music scene, began recording Horses with her band in 1975 after being signed to Arista Records, with John Cale being enlisted to produce the album.

Twelve is the tenth studio album by Patti Smith, released April 17, 2007 on Columbia Records. The album contains twelve tracks, all of which are cover versions. It debuted on Billboard 200 at number 60, with 11,000 copies sold in its first week. A promotional EP entitled Two More was also released, featuring two tracks that are not on the album: "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed and "Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect" by The Decemberists.

Her career spans the length of about four decades, spawning 11 albums and countless poems. Smith is known as a forerunner of punk rock, fostering the development of many after her, including the highly influential band, The Smiths. Much like the modernist movement of poetry, punk rock was known for its deconstructive cultural elements. But that doesn’t speak for the rest of the album. The opener contains a scratchy, power electric guitar solo amongst Smith’s own vocal delivery, packed with bluesy and semi-crooning expressions. The album also contains the seemingly improvisational titular track coming off like an extended ode to punk rock. While not obligatory, these jam sessions became as much of a staple to a Patti Smith album as her spoken word pieces.

Patti Boulaye: Patti Boulaye. The eponymous titled LP. Released on Handkerchief. The first thing the listener notices is it belongs in that cheesy mid tempo 70s disco genre - not quite so hip or trendy as (say) 'Chic' or 'The Bee Gees' - it's more in the same league as Tina Charles. The production and instrumentation belong there too - plodding bass and stinging strings. Not that this is necessarily bad, it's just not going to make you get up and dance anytime soon. Some Highlights: 'Stop it I like it': is as described as above, with a sultry vocal. At the end of playing this, I thought there were a couple of reasonable tracks but the whole is ever so slightly embarrassing. However, if you're a fan of mid 70s British cheesy soul and disco, you won't go far wrong here.

The way she sings on that song - a lot of these singers could have been real big vocalists if they around at that time. It’s just interesting to see them in this context and see that it’s not that singers got worse, it’s just that the music is different.
