Boguslaw Schaeffer (Lwów, Ukrainia, 6 June 1929) is a Polish composer, a music theorist and a teacher. In Kraków he studied musicology with Jachimecki at the university (1949–53) and composition with Malawski at the State Higher School of Music. Bogusław Julien Schaeffer (also Schäffer) (6 June 1929 in Lwów (now Lviv, Ukraine) – 1 July 2019) was a Polish composer, musicologist, and graphic artist, a member of the avantgarde "Cracow Group" of Polish composers alongside Krzysztof Penderecki and others. After studying violin in Opole and graduating in musical composition under Zdzisław Jachimecki in 1953 at the Academy of Music in Kraków, Schaeffer has been an active composer and musical theoretician.
