Barbara is the third studio album by indie rock band We Are Scientists, released (digitally and physically) in the UK on June 14, 2010. Following the band's split from EMI/Virgin in November 2009, the record was released by PIAS Recordings in the United Kingdom.

We Are Scientists is a New York City-based rock band that formed in Berkeley, California, in 2000. It consists of guitarist and vocalist Keith Murray and bass guitarist Chris Cain. The band's breakthrough success came with their first studio album, With Love and Squalor, which sold 100,000 copies in the first six months. Their second album, Brain Thrust Mastery, charted at number 11 in the UK album chart, with two top-40 singles, "After Hours" and "Chick Lit"

We Are Scientists have a good mix of tempos, songs like Ambition and Pittsburgh bring down the rhythm, but keep that calm and cool feeling of the album. In all, Barbara is probably the best album so far from We Are Scientists, and after (in my opinion) the let down of Brain Thrust Mastery, it's good to see that We Are Scientists have come out for the better in this third outing. They have crafted a true gem of an album, one that you'll find hard not to nod your head to the tunes you'll find here. If you like the Strokes, Bloc Party (at least their first album, Silent Alarm) and The Cribs, then you'll definitely appreciate and love Barbara.

That sort of self-knowledge and eagerness to please permeates their third album Barbara: You get the idea that they were scientists on their first two albums, tinkering with the DNA of bands who managed commercial radio play between the Strokes and the Killers and distilling it down to a formula. People in We Are Scientists songs get drunk, try to get laid, and know that the former can preclude the latter and serve as a remedy when these two goals don't align. And it's all so self-effacing that they never come off as skeevy or misanthropic.
