The Parallax II: Future Sequence is the sixth studio album by American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me, released on October 9, 2012. The album's concept is the continuation of the band's 2011 EP The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues. It is their longest running studio album to date.

Between the Buried and Me stated their move from Victory to Metal Blade Records, and quickly released an EP entitled The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues on April 12, 2011. From 2015 - 2017, Between the Buried and Me went out on their Coma Ecliptic World Tour and headlined with, co-headlined for August Burns Red, Animals as Leaders, Devin Townsend Project, Fallujah, Enslaved and The Contortionist. The band released "Coma Ecliptic: Live" on April 28, 2017, which has their entire "Coma Ecliptic" album played live in its entirety. In the fall of 2017, Between the Buried and Me toured for the Colors 10th Anniversary Tour where they performed the whole album.

The album begins with an eerie orchestrated entrance that sounds like it belongs in an old-fashioned movie theatre – almost something one would expect from Devin Townsend. Within seconds we are thrust directly into the fury that is BTBAM, complete with melodic undertones and abrasive power chords. Hypersleep Dialogues is only different in that the influences are more obvious. It’s better to think of The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues as a supplement to BTBAM’s last two albums rather than a follow-up. I am one of those people who firmly believe that Between the Buried and Me’s album Colors is one of the finest metal albums ever made. With that in mind, I’ve followed the band fairly closely ever since I heard that album. There’s quite a bit to enjoy here, but I have to confess that I don’t think The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues measures up to its predecessors. Specular Reflection begins with an ominous orchestral section that makes use of piano, horns, strings, and even some gothic-style chanting. At about the one minute mark, however, BtBaM drops the introduction and comes out swinging, with their typical blend of brutal growls, technical riffing and staunch refusal to stick to one time signature fully on display.
